Before reading Queen Esther's Reflection: A Portrait of Grace, Courage, and Excellence, I deemed it necessary to read the book of Esther first, and it was a worthwhile thing to do, since her story is one of beauty, intrigue, wisdom, and faultless loyalty to her husband, thus making the reflection much more penetrating.
Queen Esther was a lady who found herself becoming the delight of the King of Persia after she had been schooled for a year or so, along with other fair maidens in the land. She was a woman who had a good head on her shoulders, and she did not rest in her beauty; she allowed herself to be improved in looks, manners, learning, and anything that would make her an all-around queen of her day.
Through the life of Queen Esther, the author explores the nature of a godly woman in our society and what she should be today: the "feminine" as opposed to the "feminist." She reflects upon her own life and the social skills she learned while growing up as the daughter of a state senator from South Carolina. She writes about Esther as a woman of faith, to be honored and her life to be reflected upon to help today's woman be all that she can be in Christ Jesus, thus being a reflection of Him.
There is a section titled "Queen Esther's Reflection" at the end of each chapter, along with a study guide for finding how the lesson can be applied to the reader.
An extraordinary woman for her time, concerning herself with the cares of her time, teaching us a lesson for our own time. This woman's story is necessary for us to become the ladies of our time and for God's timing. -- Sharon I. Rideout, Christian Book Previews.com
Learn how to make your home your palace, your work your court, and your marriage a royal anointing by reflecting the excellence of character demonstrated by Queen Esther. Author Ann Platz elegantly demonstrates in Queen Esther’s Reflection the lessons that are learned of heart, home, and hope through the story of this noble woman of the Bible.
Queen Esther allowed herself to be refined and prepared—she became exquisite inside and out. But it was through this process of being taught and mentored that she became spiritually beautiful. This was her rare fragrance. It captivated the king and gave her favor and position, her destiny. This is the opportunity every woman has who seeks after God.
Becoming a true woman of grace is the ultimate goal of every contemporary Christian woman. Fulfilling God’s design for our lives leads us to understand that we were all brought into the kingdom “for such a time as this.” This book delves into the Bible Book of Esther to help women allow the Holy Spirit and mentors to help prepare them for gracious living inside and outside the home and to realize opportunities to be mentors themselves.
