While keeping in mind that this book comes from a secular publisher, The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the Last Days makes a valuable reference book. A lay Bible student with a long standing interest in the Last Days and an impressive listing of eschatological works studied, author Richard Perry provides a wide-range of information in an attractive manner. Starting with a look at what the Bible and different religions say about the Last Days, he moves on to explore meanings of pertinent Old & New Testament topics such as: biblical day; Israel’s God-appointed feasts; New Jerusalem; and Christ’s comings. Then he turns to the signs of the times and imminent possibilities. An exploration of the book of Revelation follows, ranging from the trumpets to what is happening right now. The great and dreadful Day of the Lord and Sabbath Rest conclude this study. Quotes from Biblical prophets and definitions of important words form focal sidebars. Each chapter ends with a brief listing of key points. Throughout this volume various perspectives concerning the Last Days are listed and discussed. Closing materials include a glossary, several timelines, bibliography, and extensive index.
I enjoyed investigating this book. Its comprehensive information forms its main value for me. A useful book, it should not replace Bible study, learning your own Church’s viewpoint of this subject, or other fine books on this subject. – Donna Eggett, Christian Book Previews.com
