In Sex, Romance, and the Glory of God, C.J. Mahaney uses the Song of Solomon as a springboard to get to the heart of sexual intimacy in marriage, coming from and for the perspective of men. Mahaney paints a broad, yet personal portrait of biblical sexual intimacy. He deals with such areas as: great sex to the glory of God; the divine purpose of marriage; ways to kindle romance; the language of romance; practical advice; and the importance of covenant love. The ongoing theme of Mahaney’s writing is the advice he gives to husbands that “before you touch her body, touch her heart and mind.” Also included is an epilogue from C.J.’s wife, Carolyn. This epilogue is for wives, and is taken from Carolyn’s book, Feminine Appeal: Seven Virtues of a Godly Wife and Mother.
Mahaney has done a great job at adding his unique contribution to a subject matter that already has many writings. I appreciate Mahaney’s perspective of taking the reader through the big picture, of understanding sex from a biblical worldview before delving into the mere “how to’s.” In fact, Mahaney steers clear of much the psycho-babble that even many Christian writers delve into. I really don’t have any complaints, other than the book could have been longer (translated: I was enjoying what I read, I wish it was longer).
All in all, Mahaney has constructed a wonderfully biblical addition to the many books written on the subject of romance and sex. He has a very personal writing style that makes for an easy read, but it is not simplistic or devoid of depth. At only 99 pages in the main section, any man can sit down and take the time to read this book; it has the potential to help him do his part to foster sexual intimacy in his marriage “for the glory of God.” I highly recommend Sex, Romance and the Glory of God. – Todd Burgett, Christian Book Previews.com

“As practical as it is profound, Sex, Romance, and the Glory of God may well be the best book on marriage I’ve ever read. I was motivated to love my wife more and broadened in my understanding of how loving my wife brings glory to God . . . this book is truly a treasure.” Gary Thomas, author of Sacred Marriage and Sacred Parenting
“Men, if you are looking for a book that will give you a few easy tips for spicing up your sex life, look somewhere else. This book invites you instead to completely revolutionize your romantic relationship with your wife. It calls all of us to a more profound and deeply satisfying kind of countercultural sex than most of us have ever experienced.” Bob Lepine, co-host of FamilyLife Today, author of The Christian Husband
“There’s not a husband I know that won’t benefit from this book. This is more than a book for the bedroom. It will train you to romance your wife and set you on a lifelong pursuit of winning her heart.
