In the children's picture book That's Where God Is! by Dan and Ali Morrow, a young boy benefits from the guidance of his wise grandfather. During a regular weekend visit to his grandfather's house, the youngster asks where God is. Instead of answering the boy, the old man challenges his grandson to look carefully during the next week to see if he can discover "where God is." Sure enough, throughout the week the boy discovers that God is found in the company of good friends, in acts of kindness, in deeds of honesty, and in the beauty of nature.
Returning to Grandfather's house the following weekend, the boy tells of all the places he discovered where God resides. Grandfather says that God also needs to reside in the hearts of all people, but He cannot enter there unless invited. The little boy then asks God to forgive him of his sins and to live in his heart forever.
During the episodes in which the boy finds where God is dwelling, Bible verses are inserted on the pages as scriptural verification of what is being taught. At the end of the book there is a page that presents Psalm 139:1-10, which tells of God's closeness to his creations. Lee Strobel adds a closing message for parents on the book's final page.
The book's watercolor artwork is done in dark hues of purple, red, gold, and brown, making it dramatic and intense, but the kind and loving facial expressions of the grandfather and other characters in the story make the scenes inviting and kid friendly. – Dr. Dennis E. A small child discovers God's presence in the world around him.
A boy's simple question sparks a search for God. Prompted by his grandfather, he discovers God's presence everywhere: in a powerful storm, in a friend's help, and in his sister's kindness. Then his grandfather shares another truth: God also can be found in our hearts, if we invite him in.
Filled with wonder, That's Where God Is! teaches children ages 4 to 8 that God is always with them. Moving beyond simply telling about God, it gently guides children's spiritual growth, showing them how to recognize God's presence for themselves. With an introduction by Lee Strobel, it's ideal for parents, grandparents, and teachers who want to deepen a young child's walk with God.
