Review:

In Susan May Warren’s You Don’t Know Me, to save her life Deidre O’Reilly had to lose it—Witness Protection makes sure of that. Marriage and three kids later, the man of Deidre’s past is back for revenge. But Diedre's own personal secrets may destroy her life before he can. Deidre and Nathan’s marriage struggles through lies, coverups, and deceptions, but ultimately, for better or for worse, it doesn’t matter. They’re a team. However, maintaining love and trust under such circumstances is a major strain.

Characters in this novel are like wells—deep. They reflect the morals and teachings found in Psalm 103, which talks of starting over anew and fresh thanks to God's love and forgiveness and heavenly guidance. Nevertheless, many times the characters are left to idle and reflect alone, and that makes the narrative momentum come to a standstill. What dialogue there is comes off well, but it is sparse. Thus, this book is a delight for readers who love character-driven stories but is rather slow and tedious for readers who love plot-driven books.

Deidre is a supermom. She’s willing to sacrifice everything for her family. Nathan, however, whiplashes between being take-charge and wimpy. He is also shorted on his share of hero work, which makes for an anticlimactic ending.

One side bonus of reading this book is that Warren has done her research, and readers will learn a lot about how the Witness Protection Program works. Women will appreciate the struggles of a wife, mom, and career woman, and the biblical elements are genuine. – Nichole Parks, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com

Book Jacket:

To everyone who knows her, Annalise Decker is a model wife and mother. She’s a permanent member of the PTA, never misses her kids’ sporting events, and is constantly campaigning for her husband’s mayoral race.

No one knows that Annalise was once Deidre O’Reilly, a troubled young woman whose testimony put a dangerous criminal behind bars. Relocated through the Witness Security Program to the sleepy town of Deep Haven, Deidre got a new identity and a fresh start, which began when she fell in love with local real estate agent Nathan Decker. Twenty years later, Annalise couldn’t be more unprepared for her past to catch up with her. When Agent Frank Harrison arrives with news that the man she testified against is out on bail and out for revenge, Annalise is forced to face the consequences of her secrets. Will she run again, or will she finally find the grace to trust those she loves most with both her past and her future?
