Review:

The Door Within tells the story of an insecure teenage boy, Aidan Thomas, who is struggling to fit into his new neighborhood. Aidan finds three scrolls which tell the tale of an ancient kingdom called Alleble, and lead Aidan on an extraordinary adventure that will change his life.

Alleble is a beautiful, peaceful kingdom, and it serves as the house of the only true and great king Eliam. Former partners in the galaxy, earth and Alleble are in danger of an evil power possessed by the evil and merciless Paragor. The king of Alleble summons Aidan to become a knight and take part in a great adventure to save his earth and to save Alleble.

Similar to the book of Ruth in the Bible, this story points to God and his kingdom without mentioning his name. The Door Within, the first book in the trilogy, weighs in at 310 pages and is written for youth fantasy readers. The author, Wayne Thomas Batson, is a first time author. For his daytime job, he teaches reading and English to middle students in Maryland.

As a nearly 13-year-old, I enjoyed this intriguing fantasy. I highly recommend The Door Within if you’re in the mood to get caught up in a medieval mystery. – Estee Wells, Christian Book Previews.com
