What Hollywood Believes: An Intimate Look at the Faith of the Famous

by Ray Comfort

Review  |   Author Bio  |  Read an Excerpt

In What Hollywood Believes, Ray Comfort presents quotes from over one hundred famous people as they answered questions regarding their belief about God. He presents their answers against the "plumb line" of what the Bible says.

Although few are Christians, most express a belief in some kind of supernatural being. Mr. Comfort also addresses "some of the difficulties and objections raised by celebrities…--such as the issue of suffering, proof that God exists, why we should believe a Book that is full of strange stories, who made God, etc."

As always with Mr. Comfort, his goal is to help us understand our faith better so we can better witness to others. When he addresses the question of the validity of God’s Word, he points out six issues that it covers that no other "Holy Book" does. He also discusses the Bible as a source of medical and scientific knowledge, evolution, and animal v. human.

He closes with ten principles to "save yourself some pain." They are keys to growth for us as Christians along with encouragement for us in our daily lives.

What Hollywood Believes is interesting for several reasons. One, it deals with famous people that most of us have enjoyed over the years. Two, it talks about issues that most of us struggle with at one time or another. Three, it helps explain the gap between what is presented in today’s movies and television programs versus what the public as a whole believes.

If you are a curious Hollywood fan, or enjoy reading other people’s view on a topic, you will like this book. If you are always looking for more information regarding your faith, you will enjoy this book. I am both and came away feeling informed and fed. -- Linda Demorest, Christian Book
