Review:

Nanny to the Rescue Again! by Michelle LaRowe is a book that focuses on parenting children ages six to twelve. While not a book that focuses on biblical parenting, it does seem to be a very sound secular parenting book. I also feel this book would not appeal to homeschooling parents, because the focus of the book is the separation of child and parent most specifically in a school environment, and what the child picks up while he/she is away from the parents.

The book is divided into easy-to-read chapters, each covering a specific area of parenting and beginning with a scenario that does not end well. Following the scenario, LaRowe gives her advice and tips on handling the situation better. Throughout the chapter you will find "Nanny Tips," which are boxed bullet points that give quick advice in the area covered. At the end of each chapter, the scenario is repeated with greater success based on that advice. Finally, there is a recap of the important facts of the chapter.

My personal favorite section is where LaRowe encourages parents to create a Family Code of Honor. By creating this code, families will create natural boundaries on what is or is not allowed for members of the family. At the end of the book LaRowe includes section called "Michelle's Problemossary" which lists topics form a to z and quick fixes for these topics.

While this book would be fine for parenting in the secular world and it certainly provides useful tips, I personally would not recommend this book to anyone looking for biblical parenting principles. I prefer to present my children with sound biblical doctrine for decision making and discipline issues. Brandi Webster, Christian Book Previews.com
