Although some of the anecdotes and research for this book have appeared in earlier books by Perkins, including When Good Men Are Tempted, there still are many fresh insights and lessons. At 160 pages and only nine chapters, the book can be read in a couple of sittings.
Perkins begins by calling for Christian men to regain their masculinity. He calls for them to resume their rightful role as family leaders, role models, decision makers, and standard bearers. He feels that 21st century men compromise too often, show tolerance for worldly behavior, and fail to put a foot forward for righteous stances.
The six battles he says that men need to fight are battles for their families, their friends, their personal holiness, their hearts (sexual and moral purity), their courage (to endure physical and emotional pain), and their identities (as servants of God). Each "battle" is given its own chapter, filled with Bible verses, personal anecdotes from the author's life, and references to other books and research studies. Each chapter ends with pertinent discussion questions so that the book can be used as a self-study or as a book for men's Bible study groups.
The readability of this book stems from the fact that the author presents himself as a vulnerable, struggling person who must fight the battles each day himself. Sometimes he loses, but that is no excuse for not returning to the fray with renewed commitment. This book offers both wisdom and encouragement for men trying to "fight the good fight." -- Dr. Dennis E. Hensley, Christian Book Previews.com

In the midst of this war, itís easy to lose your spiritual focus and feel like youíve failed. In Six Battles Every Man Must Win, author Bill Perkins offers hard-earned wisdom on how you can reset your sights and prevail in the challenges of life. With refreshing honesty, Bill chronicles his own struggles with disappointment, failure, and depression and tells how the little-known biblical story of Davidís band of "mighty men" transformed his life.
In this motivating and practical book, youíll discover how a small band of misfits and losers became warrior heroes. Bill Perkins shows how God helped him to win the battles in his own life and become a mighty man of God with his eye on the target--and tells how you can, too.
Every day, youíre faced with bullies. They taunt you and tempt you. "Youíre a loser. You donít have enough money, sex or power. Youíre missing out. Youíre a slave to your boss, your wife and your kids. You deserve a little fun, a little escape, a little pleasure." In Six Battles Every Man Must Win, author Bill Perkins tackles these bullies head-on and speaks clearly and openly about the challenges all men face today.
