Airplanes fly into the Twin Towers. Firemen rush into the burning buildings. Black clouds of smoke and debris chase terrified people down the streets as the towers collapse. These images have branded themselves on our national psyche.
In Counter-Terrorism Handbook, Phil Little, a corporate security specialist with the West Coast Detective Group, advises the reader on increasing his security and decreasing the likelihood of becoming a victim. His advice ranges from active citizenship on security issues to trimming the shrubs near your doors to choosing a cab in a foreign country.
Little traces terrorism back to the first terrorist attack in which Satan rebelled against God. He describes the training of children for terrorism in the Middle East, and the failures in U.S. security that led to 9-11: failures such as hamstrung intelligence agencies, weak airport security, and a failure to understand the underlying philosophy of the terrorists. He promotes the Patriot Security Act. He also gives numerous tips to enhance security at home and abroad and to ease travel stresses.
This small book is easy to read with some anecdotes, such as a summary of a WMD (weapons of mass destruction) attack that our intelligence agencies averted and most of us never heard of. The writing is lively and direct. I found the structure of the book a little disconnected, but that does not lessen its value. – Debbie W. Wilson, Christian Book Previews.com
