Mathew Staver, president of Liberty Counsel, has written an excellent guide for Christians in Same Sex Marriage. He discusses the importance of defending traditional marriage, the admitted strategies of the homosexual leadership, a legal history of sexual preference as opposed to civil rights, the political battle ahead, and the church's role in ministering to homosexuals.
This apologetic for traditional marriage should be read by someone in leadership in every church. Staver suggest that each church have a person or committee to keep up on cultural, religious, and civl legislation so that they can educate and activate the local church members.
Although Staver includes some anecdotes and frequent examples, the book is largely documented fact and analysis. Staver has researched, assembled, and organized a massive amount of material. Usually the writing moves well, but in some places it seems repetitive. Still, it is very helpful, as well as upbeat.
Staver brings energy and encouragement to the argument as he cheers the reader on to activism. He also provides the background necessary for activism on this issue. As priced, this is a great bargain.
The biggest weakness I found is the lack of an index, which would improve the book's ease of use. As it is, you have to find important material on your own and keep your hi-lighter busy. Someone in every church, Christian attorneys, and those individuals who care about traditional marriage should read this book. -- Debbie W. Wilson, Christian Book Previews.com
Godís definition for marriage was laid out in the beginning. One man and one woman uniting together in covenant to become one flesh. But the homosexual agenda today is teaching this culture that this message is intolerant. Not only are they seeking tolerance in culture, but dominance over it as well.
Mathew Staver and Liberty Counsel have been on the frontlines of this culture war.
