Featuring stories in the Bible that readers don't usually look for, Bizarre Bible Stories hooked me onto reading the Bible again. This book inspired me to learn things about God that I didn't know before.
Good for ages seven and up, Bizarre Bible Stories is easy to read as it translates Bible verses into kid's language. Describing Achan Cooley wrote, "He wasn't bad because he sinned; he was bad because he covered it rather than admitting it."
Each chapter begins with a scripture passage, and a "So What" which is a one line explanation of the lesson. After the story is a section titled, "Remember: You've Got His Word on It" with related scripture verses. Stories about flying pigs, walking bones, Balaam, Joshua, Herod and Philemon are in these 26 chapters.
As an 11-year-old who loves to read, I like that I could easily read and understand Bizarre Bible Stories. I was reminded that God is so much more powerful than we are, He is more powerful than Satan and his demons, and that no matter how much trouble we put God and ourselves through, He still loves us and gives us a chance of turning to Him.
A colorful hardback, Bizarre Bible Stories is good for kids who are fired up about God and kids who don't know who He is. -- Estee Wells, Christian Book Previews.com
Jonah and the whale? Heard that.
David and Goliath? Know them.
Noah and the Ark? So it rained . . .
Get ready for wild, wacky, and weird stories you'd be surprised to find in Scripture. But beware: It's not your parents' storybook!
