The MacArthur Bible Commentary

by John MacArthur

Review  |   Author Bio  |  Read an Excerpt

Review:

The MacArthur Bible Commentary is an impressive 2,040 pages. Much of the content can be found in The MacArthur Study Bible or The MacArthur Bible Handbook, but there are several unique features I particularly enjoyed. The mini-bibliographies at the end of each book are a great addition: not so lengthy as to be intimidating, and not overly repetitive, especially in the Old Testament references. The listing of key proverbs on various topics throughout the book of Proverbs was a welcome discovery. And though not unique to this volume of MacArthur’s work alone, I thoroughly appreciate the sections “Dealing With God’s Word,” which discusses Bible study basics and the principles of interpretation, and “Key Teachings of the Bible.” I do wish he had included “The Character of Genuine Saving Faith,” an excellent feature found in the Study Bible and the Handbook.

MacArthur’s Commentary will be a valuable addition to anyone’s arsenal of Bible study tools. – Pam Glass, Christian Book Previews.com
