Review:

Laurie Hilliard and Sharon Autry are two sisters who have collaborated to provide twelve weeks of five daily, thoughtful passages. The book is geared for mothers on the go who need encouragement, support, and reassurance that their God-given roles are still the most important for them and to Him.

Each daily message begins with a situation involving children and ends with how it relates to God, tying into His desire to hold them and the reader close to Him.  The analogy works well and causes the reader to reflect on similar episodes during the rearing of children, and to realize that there can be a positive outcome when she relies upon the Lord to lead. At the end of each daily passage there is a written prayer or a prayer for the reader to complete.  Then, a "Mama Drama" completes that day's reading to lend a time of putting into practice the thoughts of the day.

Some of the weekly titles include, "He's Always There," "Contentment-It's Your Choice," "The Honorable Role of Serving," and "Learning to Lean," but the five daily subtitles are even more interesting, as they relate to ongoing struggles that all mothers have faced at one time or another. There is a leader's guide at the end of this book, and it explores the daily passages with discussion questions for groups.

Certainly, these young mothers have experienced the same situations that most mothers have, and the words to the corresponding songs that they have written provide a soothing effect for the reader, as does the inclusion of passages of Scripture.

As the mother of three daughters and grandmother of five girls and four boys, I reflected on each daily passage and could relate them well to the happenings over the past 38 years of my life.  It would have been refreshing to have the insight of these sisters when my daughters were young.

Therefore, it is with strong approval that I recommend this for all mothers, but especially those who are questioning their stay-at-home roles in this age of promoting the feminist agenda. Sharon I. Rideout, Christian Book Previews.com
