Review:

How can a woman find contentment in real life? Mom and Loving it!, written by a pair of sisters, Laurie Lovejoy Hilliard and Sharon Lovejoy Autry, sets out to speak to the problem of women who are not fully enjoying their roles as moms, in the quick paced world. The authors hope to persuade moms of all ages to appreciate, and completely relish, their callings as mothers and wives. They claim there is hope for contentment even in the most difficult circumstances if a woman’s heart is changed.

This book is laid out in fifteen chapters that include Scripture, quotes from real moms, fun and relevant lists, tips for moms, refreshing doses of humor and wisdom, helpful advice, and from-the-heart stories. Each chapter includes sections for meditating on Scripture, praying, and answering some questions. There are also things to do in each chapter--fun activities to help readers get the point. Some of the chapter topics are: dealing with stay-at-home or working mom guilt; discontentment that comes by comparison; ideals colliding with reality; how the media affects women; being content with kids, marriage, and the unexpected curveballs life throws.

The authors are wives, singers, and speakers, along with leading a traveling ministry for moms called 2MOMS. The book, enjoyable to read and easy to follow, is a wealth of useful advice for the woman who finds her life does not match her expectations.

Marriage and motherhood do not often measure up to our rose-colored teenager glasses. If you are struggling to find contentment in your life, or hope to be a more enthusiastic and joyful mother, I recommend this book highly. – Elece Hollis, Christian Book Previews.com
