Whenever she has been faced with a tough decision, Palin has relied on the strength and guidance of her Heavenly Father to persevere.

Washburn does a nice job of providing the readers with snapshots of the important moments in Palinís life. The chapters are brief, which keeps the reader engaged, but are detailed enough to provide interesting facts. Washburn keeps her young audience in mind and writes at an appropriate level. In the back of the book is a dictionary of political terms. Also, scattered throughout the book are boxes containing tidbits about Palin, as well as photographs to provide visuals for the readers.

Speaking Up: The Sarah Palin Story is a great book for youth interested in Sarah Palin or politics in general. Even adults who are interested in learning more about this political figure will enjoy the personal stories of Palinís life.
