This story in this book, Give Thanks To The Lord, by Karma Wilson, is based on the phrase in Psalm 92: "It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your Name, O Most High." Variations of this line appear on select pages throughout the book, and the story certainly reflects a message of being grateful to the Lord for his abundant care and love.
The sentiment and tone of Give Thanks To The Lord is warm and sincere, and I cannot say enough good about the delightful artwork. Scenes of a large family gathering for a Thanksgiving dinner show people of ages ranging from a bearded elderly grandpa to a small child playing with the table's silverware. Using colored pencils and watercolors, the artist captures the steam of a hot cup of cider, the red tongue of the family dog snitching crumbs from an unwatched plate, and the bright whiteness of the turkey's wishbone. The two-page spreads reflect the orange, brown, tan, red, and yellow hues of autumn in soothing, comfortable ways.
I found the cadence of the rhyme in this book to be somewhat irregular, but for impressive artwork and a biblically solid message, this book is a winner. -- Dr Dennis E. Hensley, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com
