Colleen Coble's Bio:
Colleen Coble wrote her first story in grade school. Basking in the praise of an encouraging teacher, a seed was planted for a future career in writing. However, a husband, two children, and over twenty years later, Coble was further from her dream than ever. Then came a fateful day in 1985 that changed everything.
“The phone rang late that night with the news that my younger brother had been killed by lightning in a freak farm accident,” says Coble, “In the coming months, as I emerged from the storm of grief, I realized that if I was ever going to follow the dream I believed God had put in my heart, I needed to get started. I was approaching my fortieth birthday, and time was marching on. I told God I was ready, but still nothing came.”
As part of the grieving process, Coble and her husband made a trip out to Wyoming to see where her brother had lived during a two-year stint. While standing among the majestic mountains and valleys the first idea for a story came to Coble. Seven years of writing and pitching her work finally blossomed into her first book deal. Now she has 24 books in print and numerous awards under her belt. While Coble often still deals with the scar left by losing her brother, she is thankful for God’s grace in such a difficult situation.
“I am lucky that the Lord used the greatest tragedy of my life to propel me forward in his will,” says Coble, “I know that my brother would be proud of me and it is comforting to know that God never lets a single emotion go to waste.”
Colleen Coble’s brilliant grasp of setting and fast paced storytelling has been her calling card as a novelist. Alaska Twilight, is her latest, and it is sure to please her fans with its exotic location and fascinating characters.
