Jerry Jenkins's Bio:
Jerry Jenkins is known primarily as the writer of the blockbuster Left Behind Series, which has sold more than 63 million copies worldwide. However, Jenkins is anything but an overnight success: Over the last 30 years he has written more than 150 books in diverse genres — everything from marriage and family advice to “as-told-to” sports biographies to children’s fiction.
The former editor of Moody Magazine, Jerry has also written pieces for Time, Reader’s Digest, Parade, Guidepost, and many Christian periodicals. He is currently writer-at-large for the Moody Bible Institute, and serves on the Institute’s Board of Trustees. He has written 17 New York Times bestsellers, including all 13 Left Behind® titles.
In addition to his writing career, Jerry owns the Christian Writers Guild, an organization that helps train aspiring and professional Christian writers. More than 2,000 students worldwide are currently enrolled in the Guild’s two-year writing course. Another of Jerry’s ventures is Jenkins Entertainment, a filmmaking company he founded with his oldest son Dallas. Their first film release, Hometown Legend — based on the same-titled Jenkins novel — was listed as one of the Top 10 family films of 2002 by Good News Communication’s MOVIEGUIDE.
But it is undoubtedly the amazing success of the Left Behind Series that has focused media attention on Jerry. He and Tim LaHaye were profiled in a Newsweek cover story in May of 2004. He has also been featured in TIME, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, People, USA Today, The Los Angeles Times, and on national broadcasts of 60 minutes, The Today Show, ABC World News Tonight, CBS Evening News, NBC Nightly News, Larry King Live, The O’Reilly Factor, and Good Morning America.
Jerry and his wife, Dianna, live in Colorado Springs, Colo. They have three grown sons and three grandchildren.
