Maria Garriott's Bio:
Maria Garriott’s poetry, essays, and nonfiction articles have appeared in The Baltimore Sun, The New York Quarterly, The Christian Century, Urban Mission Journal, Our Sunday Visitor, and the Maryland Poetry Review. She earned a Master’s degree in Professional Writing from Towson University, and is a curriculum writer at The Johns Hopkins University. She and Craig are parents of five children.
Maria and her husband Craig moved into a low-income urban Baltimore neighborhood in 1981 where Craig serves as pastor of Faith Christian Fellowship (Presbyterian Church in America), a church committed to racial reconciliation and ministry in Word and deed. The church presently has 500 regular attendees, and operates a Christian day school, tutoring program, sports leagues, and other ministries. Maria’s recording of original music, On the Avenue, was released in 1988. Maria speaks at churches, colleges, retreats, and conferences. She enjoys reading, playing guitar, hiking, and most of all spending time with her family.
