Joel Turtel's Bio:
Joel Turtel lives in New York and specializes in writing about political and education issues. He has been an avid reader and researcher in these fields for over 30 years. He owned a consulting company for fifteen years in which he had to interact with government agencies and deal with their regulations on a daily basis. As a result, he gained first-hand knowledge of the deep-rooted problems that government regulations cause businesses of all kinds.
After selling his consulting company in 1991, he became a full-time writer. His first book, published in 1996, was The Welfare State: No Mercy For the Middle Class. His new book, Public Schools, Public Menace was the result of over three years of intensive research. As part of that research, he became a reading volunteer to first-grade children in New York City's public schools. As a result of that experience, he confirmed first-hand the truth of many of the facts and conclusions he reached while researching his book.
