Mark I. Wallace's Bio:
Wallace, a member of the Swarthmore faculty since 1989, frequently takes his classes into the Crum Woods at the edge of the Swarthmore campus. He devotes portions of the book to reflections on the Crum, an old-growth forest growing along a creek of the same name, and the nearby city of Chester, Pa., a community of largely lower-income people that he says has become “a corporate sacrifice zone” with its concentration of toxin-spewing waste treatment facilities.
Wallace is the author of two previous books, Fragments of the Spirit: Nature, Violence, and the Renewal of Creation (2002) and The Second Naiveté: Barth, Ricoeur, and the New Yale Theology (1990).
