Erwin McManus's Bio:
Erwin McManus has a vision for teaching spirituality that is breaking age-old barriers and raising a few eyebrows. McManus was born in El Salvador and lived there until he was 10 years old. Growing up, McManus received mixed messages as his grandmother taught him about Catholicism and his grandfather taught him about reincarnation. During his college years, McManus was on a constant search for what the truth really was and considered himself somewhat of an atheist. At the end of his journey, he finally turned to Christ and traveled the globe sharing his message with the urban poor.
After 10 years starting churches among the poor, McManus and his wife moved across the country to Los Angeles. They looked for a small church with the simple intention of finding a regular place to attend services and never intended to end up in a leadership position. Eleven years later, Mosaic is making waves in the Christian community with McManus’s lead. He is the senior pastor at Mosaic, which uses a unique approach to teaching spirituality.
In addition to leading Mosaic, McManus regularly speaks on leadership and global diversity throughout the United States and on every continent. He is a contributing editor for Leadership Journal, founder of Awaken, a team of collaborators who specialize in unleashing personal creativity, president of Global Impact and Futurist consultant for many businesses ranging from small churches to Wall Street investment firms. McManus has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina and a M.A. in Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Kim, have three children, Aaron, Mariah, and Patsy.
