John MacArthur's Bio:
The son of a preacher, John MacArthur is a fifth-generation pastor, best-selling author and conference speaker. He is a native of Los Angeles, Calif., where he attended Los Angeles Pacific College (now Azusa Pacific University). After earning a bachelorís degree in religion, MacArthur continued his education at Talbot Theological Seminary in La Miranda, Calif., where he graduated magna cum laude and received a masterís degree in biblical exposition. He later served as an adjunct professor at Talbot. In 1976, MacArthur was awarded an honorary doctorate from Grace Graduate School in Long Beach, Calif.
From 1964 to 1966, MacArthur served as an associate pastor at Calvary Bible Church in Burbank, Calif. He currently acts as pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, Calif., where he has been preaching the word of God since 1969. Under MacArthurís leadership, Grace Community Church's two morning worship services fill the 3,000-seat auditorium to capacity.
MacArthurís pulpit ministry has been extended around the globe through his media ministry, Grace to You, and its satellite offices in Australia, Canada, Europe, India, New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa. In addition to producing daily radio programs for nearly 2,000 English and Spanish radio outlets worldwide, Grace to You distributes books, software, audiotapes and CDs by MacArthur. In 36 years of ministry, Grace to You has distributed more than 13 million CDs and audiotapes. In addition to his extensive ministering duties, MacArthur is the president of The Master's College (formerly Los Angeles Baptist College) and The Master's Seminary, a graduate school dedicated to training men for full-time pastoral roles and missionary work, which he also founded. Prior to this, he worked as an adjunct professor at Dallas Theological Seminary and assistant professor at Los Angeles Baptist College.
MacArthur is the author of hundreds of books and study guides, including: The Gospel According to Jesus, The Second Coming, Ashamed of the Gospel, Twelve Ordinary Men and The MacArthur Study Bible, a 1998 ECPA Gold Medallion recipient. His latest release, The Truth War, empowers Christians to claim the certainties that God promises and teaches them how to identify and address the errors and false teachings that are smuggled into their churches.
MacArthur and his wife, Patricia, have four grown children and 14 grandchildren. They currently reside in southern California.
