John MacArthur's Bio:
Dr. MacArthur is an internationally known Christian leader. He is the pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, CA. Following in the steps of his father, Dr. Jack MacArthur, John represents five successive generations of pastors in his family. Dr. MacArthur is also president of The Master’s College and Seminary and is heard daily on "Grace to You," a nationally syndicated radio broadcast. He has written 149 books, including the Gold Medallion Award–winning The MacArthur Study Bible. One of his recent works is the The Heart of the Bible (Thomas Nelson), which clusters verses that he considers are the most significant in the Scriptures.
Radio - John MacArthur is president and featured teacher of “Grace to You,” a non-profit organization responsible for developing, producing, and distributing the "Grace to You" radio program. "Grace to You" airs more than 800 times daily, reaching all major population centers in the United States, as well as Canada, Europe, India, New Zealand, the Philippines, and South Africa. In its three-decade history, Grace to You has also distributed more than 13 million audiocassettes and CDs of Dr. MacArthur’s sermons.
Publishing - Since completing his first bestselling book in 1988, MacArthur’s books have sold millions of copies worldwide. Many of his books are available on CD and dozens of titles have been translated into Spanish, French, Finnish, Polish, Hungarian, Czechoslovakian, Rumanian, Chinese, Korean and several Indian languages.
Pastoral - John came to Grace Community Church in 1969, after graduating with honors from Talbot Theological Seminary. The emphasis of his pulpit ministry is the careful study and verse-by-verse exposition of the Bible, with special attention devoted to the historical and grammatical background behind each passage. Under John's leadership, Grace Community Church's three worship services fill the 2,500-seat auditorium to capacity. Several thousand members also participate each week in dozens of fellowship groups and training programs, most led by lay leaders and each dedicated to equipping members for ministry on local, national, and international levels.
Personal - John and his wife, Patricia, live in Southern California and have four grown children: Matt, Marcy, Mark, and Melinda. He and Patricia enjoy the enthusiastic company of thirteen grandchildren. In addition to being a voracious reader, John enjoys golf and time with family.
