Beverly Lewis's Bio:
BEVERLY LEWIS is the author of over seventy books for adults and children. Her inaugural novel, The Shunning, was the first in her blockbuster fiction series, THE HERITAGE OF LANCASTER COUNTY.
Writing memorable stories set in Amish farmland brings Beverly continual joy and inspiration. Although her own family heritage is Old Order Mennonite, she has many dear friends among Amish communities in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana.
The seeds for Lewis’s bestselling novels grew out of family stories she heard as a girl, growing up near Amish farmland. Against this idyllic backdrop, Lewis weaves riveting tales that give readers a fascinating glimpse at Old Order tradition.
“I’ve always been fascinated by the Anabaptist culture,” Lewis says. “My stories are purely fictional but have been inspired by the life-experiences my Plain relatives and friends have encountered.”
Sales for her books have now topped six million copies! Beverly received the 2004 Inspirational Readers Choice Award (First Place Long Historical) for The Betrayal, as well as the Book of the Year Award from Crossings Book Club for The Prodigal, which appeared on The New York Times and the USA Today bestseller lists. The Revelation, the final book in the ABRAM’S DAUGHTERS series, was also a USA Today bestseller. Always writing, Beverly is currently working on book two in her ANNIE’S PEOPLE series.
Lewis is a frequent speaker at writers conferences and retreats, as well as public and private schools. She is a member of the National League of American Pen Women and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. A former schoolteacher, and private piano and voice instructor, Lewis enjoys performing piano duets with her husband. She and her husband, David, live in the foothills of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. She answers all fan mail personally, creates “memory books” for family and friends, and hikes with her family during her leisure time.
