Sue Miller with David Staal's Bio:
Sue Miller was part of the original group that started Willow Creek Community church in 1975. In 1989, Senior Pastor Bill Hybels asked Sue to provide leadership to Promiseland's creative programming and curriculum. Within two years, Sue became director of Promiseland, and has led the ministry to worldwide prominence as a premier children's ministry.
In her current role as executive director, Sue oversees the Promiseland ministry at Willow Creek's main campus and satellite locations, and is one of the most respected and well-known children's ministry leaders in the world. Her ability to encourage others, cast vision, and catalyze change makes Sue a much sought-after speaker at major children's ministry events. Her proven leadership and passion for ministry also enable her to be a strategic member of Willow Creek's senior management team.
Under Sue's leadership, Promiseland has become Willow Creek's largest ministry. Every weekend, more than 3,000 kids attend and are served by nearly 1,000 volunteers. In addition volunteers, Sue's team includes twenty-eight full-time and twenty-eight part-time paid staff. She is respected and recognized as an innovator who not only changed Willow's children's ministry into the best hour of every kid's week, but also equipped thousands of other ministries to do the same.
Prior to service at Willow Creek, Sue worked for fifteen years as an elementary school teacher in Chattanooga, Tennessee and the Chicago suburbs. She has a BA in education from Trinity College in Deerfield, Illinois. She lives in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, with her husband Rick and son Ryan.
