CBD: Tell us a little about yourself.

Jan: I followed the urgings of my heart and left my job at the California Legislature six years ago to write and speak full time. I'm a mother, grandmother, avid fisherwoman and working on a Vietnam era novel right now. I'm enjoying life to the fullest, one day at a time. God is good.

CBD: What was your motivation behind this project?

Jan: A crisis of faith when my self will collided with God's will and I had to make a hard choice. As I recalled friends faced with similiar decisions who chose to do the right thing over the easy one, I saw that blessings come with standing for God; joy, peace and a steadfast heart that can never be shaken when the storms come. In the book you'll read their stories as well as my own, and I guarantee you'll be inspired and encouraged.

CBD: What do you hope folks will gain from this project?

Jan: That the light to live our Christian life by resides in the deep regions of an obedient heart. Many Christians give lip service to "loving God," yet their lives don't reflect the peace promised to believers. They’re burned out, unhappy, tossing aside marriages, battling addictions and depression. They struggle with bitterness. Yet, you will hear them say they are trying to live the Christian life and please God. This book will explore this truth: If we truly love God we trust him, we trust that he has our best in mind always. Only then can we stand firm and follow his commands. We can do the right thing—whether we're confused, feel abandoned or stand to lose everything. We can do it in confidence and leve the results up to God. We can do the right thing—whether we're confused, feel abandoned or stand to lose everything. We can do it in confidence (even when we're shaking in our boots). It’s not always easy, but we can leave the results to God. My book explores this truth; we truly love God we trust him, that he has our best in mind always. There's joyous freedom in that.

CBD: Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors?

Jan: My husband Carl who encouraged me to tackle this topic because Christ said, "If you love me you will obey my commandments." He is a man who values integrity above all and reminds me that all we go through in life is designed to build our character.

CBD: Anything else you'd like readers to know:

Jan: That obedience is God's answer to our problem.
